We’re sorry to report that the Cairns Regional Council has refused our application for a grant in the Developmental Events stream today.
It’s no secret that Australia Classic incurs much more in expenses than the entry fees would cover and so we were hoping that local government considers the promotional value and the public appeal of this event worthy of support. Unfortunately it seems the Ukulele Festival and similarly fabulous, world class events have beaten us again – long live the 4 strings and the 4 chords you can play on the previous mayor’s favourite instrument.
